About AEyeDoctor
AEyeDoctor helps you find an eye doctor and understand the care they provide. It lists ophthalmologists and optometrists across the United States, using public records: the federal NPPES provider registry for names, specialties and practice locations, and Medicare data for procedures a doctor has billed.
Some doctors add more about themselves, such as a photo, a description of their practice and the services they offer today. Their pages are reviewed and approved by the doctor before they appear.
How listings work
- Ordering
- Doctors with a source-linked profile are listed first, because they reviewed and approved their information and each fact links to where it comes from. That is a difference in how much you can learn, not a rating of clinical quality. Then results follow the care you searched for and distance. No doctor pays to be listed or to appear higher.
- Services reported in Medicare data
- A care tag from Medicare data means the doctor billed Original Medicare for it in the year shown. It is not a quality rating. Medicare covers patients 65 and over, and procedures such as LASIK are not billed to Medicare, so a missing tag does not mean a doctor doesn't offer that care. A doctor's own list of current services, when they add one, is shown separately.
- Not an endorsement
- A listing is not a recommendation or medical advice. To book or ask about care, contact the practice directly. Doctors can correct, add to or remove their listing from the For doctors page.
